Short title. This Act may be cited as the Fauna Conservation Act and Another Act Amendment Act 1976. 2. Arrangement . This Act is divided into Parts as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY; PART II-AMENDMENTS OF THE FAUNA CONSERVATION ACT 1974; PART III-AMENDMENTS OF THE NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE ACT 1975.

(1) The Fauna Conservation Act 1974 is in this Part referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Fauna Conservation Act 1974 as amended by this Part may be cited as the Fauna Conservation Act1974-1976. 4. Amendment of s. 14. ' Section 14 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (1), omitting subparagraph (1) and substituting the following subparagraph:- (1) if he is a member of the Police Force of the State or a wildlife ranger employed by the Conservator, may without any authority other than this subparagraph arrest a person found committing an offence against this Act and, if he is a wildlife ranger, may deliver such person into the custody of a member of the Police Force of the State at any police station or watch-house to be dealt with according to law; ". 5. Amendment of s. 54 . Section 54 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (2), omitting the words " not less than $50 and not more than $1,000 " and substituting the expression " S2,000 ". 6. Amendment of s. 57. Section 57 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsections (1), (2) and (3), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000.", wherever occurring, and substituting the words "$10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such fine and such imprisonment." in each case; (b) in subsection (4), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000; and in addition $10 " and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such fine and such imprisonment; and in addition $50 "; (c) . absection (5), omitting the words " minimum $200; maximum $3,C iO; and in addition $10 " and substituting the words " $10,000 or '-nprioonment for two years or both such fine and such imprisonment; and in addition $50 ". 7. Amendment of s. 58. Section 58 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " First offence-minimum $100; maximum $1,000; second or subsequent offence-minimum $200; maximum $3,000; and in addition in any case $200 " and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such fine and such imprisonment; and in addition $500 ". 8. Amendment of s. 59. Section 59 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (1), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000 " and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such imprisonment and such fine ". 9. Amendment of s. 62. Section 62 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (3), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000." and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such imprisonment and such fine.".

Section 63 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (3), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000." and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such imprisonment and such fine.". 11. Amendment of s. 64 . Section 64 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (3), omitting the words " Minimum $200; maximum $3,000." and substituting the words " $10,000 or imprisonment for two years or both such imprisonment and such fine.". PART III - AMENDMENTS OF THE NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE ACT 1975 12. Citation . The National Parks andWildlife Act1975 as amended by this Part may be cited as the National Parks andWildlife Act1975-1976. 13. Amendment of s. 6. Section 6 of the NationalParks and WildlifeAct1975 is amended by- (a) inserting at the end of subparagraph ( a) the following subparagraph:- ,. . (aa) all wildlife rangers employed by the Director in the National Parks and Wildlife Service "; (b) in subparagraph ( b) omitting the words " district fauna ranger, fauna ranger,". By Authority: S.
