Family Law (Child Abduction Convention) Regulations 2(Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Family Law Act 1975.

1.Amendment

1.1 The Family Law (Child Abduction Convention) Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[NOTE: These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.Schedule 2 (Convention countries)

2.1 After item 20B, insert:

 “20C

Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro)

1 December 1991”.

3.Effect of amendment

3.1 The amendment made by regulation 2 is made on the basis of the declaration by the entity known as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) of its intention to be bound by the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and is not to be taken to imply recognition of that entity by Australia.
