Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Fair Trading Act 1987.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to prescribe a product safety standard for exercise cycles. standards) and 92 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Fair Trading Amendment (Exercise Cycles)
Regulation 2009.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Fair Trading Regulation 2007

Part 2, Division 23

Insert before Part 3:

Division 23 Exercise cycles
87J Definition

In this Division:
AS 4092—1993 means AS 4092—1993, Exercise cycles—
Safety requirements, as published by Standards Australia
on 11 October 1993.
exercise cycle means a stationary device designed to be
used for personal physical exercise by means of an activity

simulating bicycle riding.

87K Safety standard

The product safety standard prescribed for exercise cycles is that they must comply with AS 40921993.

87L Variation of AS 4092—1993

For the purposes of this Division, AS 40921993 is taken to have been amended by omitting clauses 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.1, 3.3 and 4.1.
