FAIR TRADING ACT 1987—ORDER

(Relating to the supply of certain home exercise equipment)

I, FAYE LO PO’, Minister for Consumer Affairs, in pursuance of section

of the Fair Trading Act 1987, and in accordance with a recommendation of the Products Safety Committee, do, by this my Order:

(a)

repeal the order made under section 31 of that Act published in Gazette No. 102 of 17 June 1988 at page 3189 (relating to portable home exercise equipment); and

(b) prohibit the supply of the goods specified in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Goods being portable home exercise equipment consisting of 2 foot

pedals connected to a bar handle by a spring or springs.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Order is to repeal an Order made under section 31 of the Fair

Trading Act 1987 that prohibits the supply of certain portable home exercise equipment (consisting of 2 foot pedals connected to a bar handle by a spring or springs) unless the goods are supplied in accordance with certain conditions and to replace that Order with an Order that prohibits the supply of such home exercise equipment absolutely.

This Order is made under section 31 of the Fair Trading Act 1987.
