FAIR TRADING ACT 1987—ORDER

(Relating to the repeal of orders prohibiting or restricting the supply of certain

goods)

NEW SOUTH WALES

I, FAYE LO PO; Minister for Consumer Affairs, in pursuance of section 31 of the Fair Trading Act 1987, and in accordance with a recommendation of the Products Safety Committee, do, by this my Order, repeal:

(a)

each order made under section 39E (1) of the Consumer Protection Act 1969 referred to in Schedule 1, being an order that, by operation of clause 7 of Schedule 5 to the Fair Trading Act 1987, is taken to be an order made under that Act; and

(b)

each order made under section 3 1 of the Fair Trading Act 1987 referred to in Schedule 2.

SCHEDULE 1

1. The Order published in Gazette No. 134 of 28 September 1979 at pages 4830 and 4831 relating to children’s toys or playthings known as “Magic Finger Chopper”, “Amazing Finger Chopper” or “See Through Guillotine” and other similar children’s toys or playthings.

2. The Order published in Gazette No. 66 of 24 April 1980 at page 2079 relating to the “Tommy Tippee” rattle and a baby’s soother, being a baby’s “dummy” or “pacifier” without a safety shield.

3. The Order published in Gazette No. 38 of 6 March 1981 at page 14 19 relating to dry powders containing asbestos fibres or dust.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Order is to repeal a number of orders prohibiting or restricting the supply of certain goods.

This Order is made under section 31 of the Fair Trading Act 1987.
