REGULATION

(Relating to boiler and pressure vessel inspection fees)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Factories, Shops and Industries Act 1962, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 13 February 1995.

Amendment
2. The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulations are amended by

omitting item 1 of Schedule 1 and by inserting instead the following item:

Fees to be charged by boiler inspectors (a) Locomotive, traction engine or road roller boiler:

(i) not exceeding 7 square metres heating surface ..... $85.00
(ii) exceeding 7 square metres heating surface ........... $110.00

(b)

Boiler (other than a locomotive, traction engine or road roller boiler) having a heating surface (including the heating surface of an economizer or superheater, if any):

(i) not exceeding 2 square metres ............................ $30.00

(ii)  exceeding 2 square metres but not exceeding 5

square metres .................................................... $50.00

(iii)  exceeding 5 square metres but not exceeding 15

square metres .................................................... $80.00

A 50 per cent surcharge applies for the inspection of a digester, dry renderer, melter, blood receiver, blood dryer or expeller trough.

Surcharge for single inspection: surcharge applies if on any one day:

(i)  only one boiler (and no pressure vessel) or only one pressure vessel (and no boiler) located on any particular premises is inspected; and

(ii)  the boiler or pressure vessel is of a kind referred to in paragraph (b) (i), (c) (i), (c) (ii), (d) (i) or (d) (ii).

Despite any other provision of this item, if on any one
day 5 or more boilers, or 5 or more pressure vessels,
located on the same premises are inspected, a 20 per
cent discount applies.
Additional fee for pipe system inspection:

Discount for multiple inspections: is to be charged for the inspection of:

(i) a steam pipe system used in connection with a

boiler; or
(ii) connecting pipes subject to corrosion and wastage and used in connection with a refrigeration system.

Surcharge for inspection on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday:

1995—No. 41

If the owner of a boiler or pressure vessel specifically
requests that an inspection of the boiler or pressure
vessel be made on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday,
the fee to be charged for an inspection made on that day

is double the fee that is otherwise applicable.

(i) Certificates of inspection—Forms B.R.3 and B.R.4 ......... $1.60

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Regulation increases the fees for inspecting boilers and pressure vessels. Those

fees were last increased early in 1991.

This Regulation is made under the Factories, Shops and Industries Act 1962 and in
particular section 65 (Power to make regulations), for example section 65 (1) (h) and (i).
