(Providing for an increase in certain fees payable under the Boiler and

Pressure Vessel Regulations)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Factories, Shops and Industries Act 1962, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 February 1991.

Amendments

2. The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulations are amended:

(a)

by omitting paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 and by inserting instead the following paragraph:

1.  Fees to be charged by boiler inspectors

The fees referred to in Regulation 34 are as follows:

(a) Locomotive, traction engine or road roller boiler:

(i)   not exceeding 7 square metres heating surface .................... $81.00

(ii) exceeding 7 square metres
heating surface .................... $105.00

(b)

Boiler (other than a locomotive, traction engine or road roller boiler) having a heating surface (including the heating surface of an economizer or superheater, if any):

(i) not exceeding 2 square metres $29.00
(ii) exceeding 2 square metres but
not exceeding 5 square metres $48.00

(iii)   exceeding 5 square metres but

not exceeding 15 square metres (iv) exceeding 15 square metres but

A 50 per cent surcharge applies for the inspection of a digester, dry renderer, melter, blood receiver, blood dryer or expeller trough.

(e) Surcharge for single inspection:

Despite any other provision of this paragraph, if on any one day:

(i)   only one boiler (and no pressure

vessel) or only one pressure vessel (and no boiler) located on any particular premises is inspected; and

(ii)   the boiler or pressure vessel is of a kind referred to in subparagraph (b) (i), (c) (i), (c) (ii), (d) (i) or (d) (ii),

a 50 per cent surcharge applies.

(f) Discount for multiple inspections:

Despite any other provision of this paragraph, if on any one day 5 or more boilers, or 5 or more pressure vessels, located on the same premises are inspected, a 20 per cent discount applies.

(g) Additional fee for pipe system inspection:

An additional fee of $36.00 per hour or part of an hour is to be charged for the inspection of:

(i)

a steam pipe system used in connection with a boiler; or

(ii)

connecting pipes subject to corrosion and wastage and used in connection with a refrigeration system.

(h) Surcharge for inspection on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday:

If the owner of a boiler or pressure vessel specifically requests an inspection of the boiler or pressure vessel be made on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the fee to be charged for an inspection made on that day is double the fee that is otherwise applicable.

licences and licence examinations

The fees referred to in Part IV are as follows:

Fee to be lodged with an application under Regulation 49 to attend an examination in all subjects prescribed by Regulation 47 ( f ) ...................

(b) Fee to be lodged with an application under Regulation 49 to attend an examination in any one subject which the applicant has previously failed— if the applicant is allowed to so attend ........................................................... $50.00
(c) Fee to be lodged with an application

under Regulation 49 to attend an examination in any two or more subjects which the applicant has previously failed—if the applicant is allowed to so attend ....................... $70.00

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to increase fees under the Boiler and Pressure

Vessel Regulations:

(a)

for the inspection of boilers, pressure vessels, steam jacketed pans and associated pipes; and

(b) for examinations for a boiler inspector’s licence; and
(c) for a boiler inspector’s licence or the renewal of such a licence.
