EZEKIEL‑HART

v

COUNCIL OF THE LAW SOCIETY OF THE ACT

[2023] HCASL 175
C11/2023

  1. The applicant seeks an extension of time for special leave to appeal from orders of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory (McCallum CJ), striking out an appeal in one matter (ACTCA 36 of 2022) and refusing an application for leave to appeal in another (ACTCA 41 of 2022).

  2. The proposed grounds of appeal lack sufficient prospects of success to warrant a grant of special leave. They also raise no question of public importance. Special leave should be refused, and it would be futile to grant the extension of time sought.

  3. Pursuant to r 41.08.1 of the High Court Rules 2004 (Cth), we direct the Registrar to draw up, sign and seal an order dismissing the application.
