Extradition (Republic of Italy) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Extradition (Foreign States) Act 1966.

Regulations 2 and 3 of the Extradition (Republic of Italy) Regulations are repealed and the following regulations substituted:

Interpretation

“2. In these Regulations, ‘the Act’ means the Extradition (Foreign States) Act 1966.

Application of Act

“3. The Act applies in relation to the Republic of Italy subject to the following treaties:

(a) the Treaty of Extradition between Australia and the Republic of Italy that came into force on 9 May 1976 (being the treaty a copy of the English text of which is set out in the Schedule);

(b) the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft (being the Convention referred to in the Crimes (Hijacking of Aircraft) Act 1972);

 

(c) the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation (being the Convention referred to in the Crimes (Protection of Aircraft) Act 1973);

(d) the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961 as subsequently amended (being the Convention referred to in, and a copy of the English text of which is set out in the Schedule to, the Extradition (Narcotic Drugs) Regulations.”.
