These Regulations are the
Extradition (Physical Protection of Nuclear Material) Regulations 1988 .
In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:
Physical Protection Convention has the same meaning as in theNuclear Non ‑Proliferation (Safeguards) Act 1987 .
the Act means theExtradition Act 1988 .
For the definition of
extradition country in section 5 of the Act, a country, or a colony, territory or protectorate of a country, for which the Physical Protection Convention is in force is an extradition country.Note 1: For when the Convention enters into force for a State, see Article 19 of the Convention.
Note 2: The countries for which the Convention is currently in force are listed on the International Atomic Energy Agency website at level="5">
4 Application of the Act The Act applies, subject to the Physical Protection Convention, to an extradition country mentioned in regulation 3.
