I, PETER JOHN HOLLINGWORTH, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Extradition Act 1988.

1Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Extradition (Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan) Regulations 2002.

2Commencement

These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3Definitions

In these Regulations:

Act means the Extradition Act 1988.

Jordan means the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

4Declaration that Jordan is an extradition country

Jordan is declared to be an extradition country.

5Application of the Act in relation to Jordan

For the purposes of the application of the Act in relation to Jordan and in reliance on paragraph 11 (1) (b) and subsection 11 (2) of the Act, paragraph 17 (2) (a) is modified by omitting ‘45 days’ and substituting ‘60 days’.
