Expo '88 Act Amendment Act 1987, No. 62 833 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short Title. This Act may be cited as the Expo '88 Act Amendment Act 1987. 2. Citation. (1) In this Act the Expo '88 Act 1984 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Expo '88 Act 1984-1987. 3. Amendment of s. 4. Interpretation . Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition "Expo '88" the following definition:- "industrial agreement" means any agreement taking effect in Queensland, whether pursuant to a law of Queensland or of its own force, that concerns an industrial matter within the meaning of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1961-1987 or that concerns the relationship of employer and employee;". 4. Amendment of s. 34. Compliance with international requirements. Section 34 of the Principal Act is amended- (a) in subsection (2), by omitting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:- "(c) any industrial award taking effect pursuant to a law of Queensland or any industrial agreement,"; (b) in subsection (3), by omitting the words "a law of Queensland" and substituting the words "Queensland law". 5. Amendment of s. 44. By-laws of Authority. Section 44 of the Principal Act is amended- (a) in subsection (1), by- (i) adding to paragraph (e) after the expression "Site;" the words "to provide for the safe-keeping of property found within the Site and the disposal of any such property unclaimed by its rightful owner;"; (ii) adding to paragraph (g) before the words "to regulate" the words "to regulate the conditions of employment of persons engaged in performing duties within the Site, whether as employees of the Authority or as employees of any other person;"; (iii) re-designating paragraph (h) as paragraph (j) and inserting after paragraph (g) the following paragraphs:- "(h) to provide for the functions, duties, powers and authorities of persons performing duties within the Site (whether or not as employees of the Authority) and to regulate the
834 Expo '88 Act Amendment Act 1987, No. 62 discharge and exercise of such functions , duties, powers and authorities; (i) to provide for all matters affecting the Site or any activity, to the extent that it is carried on or is to be carried on within the Site or in the airspace above the Site, or affecting the operations of the Authority, being matters that, in the Authority' s opinion , arise incidentally in the promotion or presentation of Expo '88;"; (b) adding at the end of the section the following subsection:- ".(7) A by-law of the Authority may prescribe with respect to any matter by reference to- (a) a standard approved by the British Standards Association , the Australian Standards Association or other institution of a similar nature; (b) any industrial agreement or other agreement, whether or not duly filed, approved or registered under a relevant law; (c) any industrial award; or (d) any law or order, regulation or rule made under any law.".

The Principal Act is amended by omitting the schedule and substituting the following scheduler "SCHEDULE [s.4] Parish of South Brisbane County of Stanley Not to scale More particularly defined in a plan prepared by Brisbane Exposition and South Bank Redevelopment Authority and identified by the marking SVY 114"
