AN ACT to amend the Explosives and Dangerous

Goods Act 1961-1978.

[Assented to 13 October 1981.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Explosives

The principal Act as amended by this Act may

be cited as the Explosives and Dangerous Goods Act

Section 62

amended.

2. Section 62 of the principal Act is amended in

subsection (2)-

(a)

by inserting after paragraph (a) the follow- ing paragraph-

(aa) providing for inspections, exam- inations and tests to be conducted or carried out in connection with applications for licences, permits or certificates under this Act, and prescribing the fees payable therefor; " ;

(b)

by inserting after paragraph (h) the following paragraph-

(ha) prohibiting the use of containers or equipment, other than containers or equipment approved by the Chief Inspector, for the storage, conveyance or dispensing of dangerous goods specified in the regulations, and providing for the examination, inspection and testing of containers or equipment and prescribing, or authorizing, the Chief Inspector to determine, the fees payable therefor; " ; and

(c)

by inserting after paragraph (q) the following paragraphs-

tt (qa) prohibiting the use of equipment

for or in connection with the detonation of explosives unless that equipment is of a kind approved by the Chief Inspector;

(qb) providing for the inspection, examination and testing of equip- ment for use for or in connection with the detonation of explosives, and prescribing the fees payable therefor; "
