Amendment Act 1996 No 11—Proclamation

GORDON SAMUELS, Governor I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Exhibited Animals Protection Amendment Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 2 February 2001 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this proclamation is to commence Schedule 1 [1]–[3] of the Exhibited Animals

Protection Amendment Act 1996 (the Act). The amendments:

(a)

remove an exemption so that zoological parks established, maintained and controlled by the Zoological Parks Board of New South Wales will be required to obtain an animal display establishment licence, and

(b)

omit a power to make regulations to apply standards prescribed under section 14 of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 to such zoological parks, and

(c) commence a formal provision to give effect to a savings and transitional schedule to the Act.

This proclamation is made under section 2 of the Act.
