EXHIBITED ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT 1986—
REGULATION

(Updating references to the Director-General of the Department of

Agriculture)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on the 27th March, 1992.

Amendment

2. The Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation 1989 is amended:

(a) by inserting in clause 3, in alphabetical order, the following

definition:

“Director-General” means the Director-General of the

Department of Agriculture;

(b)

by omitting from clauses 7 (3), 8–10, 12, 13, 15(1), 17 (3), 19, 20, 24–26, 29, 32 (1), 35, 37 and 39–43 the word “board” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “Director-General”;

(c)

by omitting from clauses 13 (4), 19 (2) and 32 (1) the word “it” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the words “the Director-General” ;

(d)

by omitting from clauses 13 (4) and 40 (2) (b) the word “its” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the words “his or her”;

(e)

by omitting from clauses 4 (2), 14, 21 (5), 26 (3), 27 and 34 of Schedule 1 the word “board” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “Director-General”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Amendments to the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 contained in the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No. 2) 1991 provide for the Director-General of the Department of Agriculture to take over the licensing, administrative and other regulatory functions that the Zoological Parks Board has under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986. The object of this Regulation is to update references in the Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation 1989 as a consequence of those amendments.
