EXHIBITED ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT 1986—
REGULATION

(Relating to the exhibition of emus on farms and at agricultural shows and

field days)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986, has been

pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation 1989 is amended by inserting at the end of Schedule 2B the following words:

Dromaius novaehollandiae (Emu)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to exempt emu farmers from the licensing provisions of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 in relation to the display of emus on their farms and at certain agricultural shows and field days.

This Regulation is made under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986, including paragraph (c) of the definition of “exhibit” in section 5 (1) and section 53 (the general regulation-making power).
