EXHIBITED ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT 1986—

REGULATION

(Relating to circumstances in which authorisation to keep or display an

animal is not required)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation 1989 is amended:

(a)

by inserting at the end of clause 4A (2) (j) the following word and paragraph :

; or

(k) that the animal, being an animal of a species listed in Schedule 2B and not being an animal kept pursuant to a permit or at a licensed animal display establishment, is displayed:

(i)  at an agricultural show or show parade conducted by the Royal Agricultural Society or a society that is a member of the Agricultural Societies Council; or

(ii)  at an agricultural field day conducted on a farm or showground; or

(iii) on the farm on which the animal is kept.

(b) by inserting after Schedule 2A the following Schedule:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to make it clear that certain traditional farm animals and other specified animals that are kept on farms may be displayed at agricultural shows, parades and field days and on farms without a licence or permit under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986.

This Regulation is made under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986,

including section 5 (1) and section 53 (the general regulation making power).
