Majes ty by and wi th t he advice and consent of t h e Legislat ive Council and Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w South W a l e s in Pa r l i amen t assembled and by the au thor i ty of t h e same as follows :—

1. F r o m and after t h e pass ing of th i s A c t it shall be lawful for t he defendant or t h e husband or wife of t he defendant to give evidence in all cases in which Magis t ra tes are author ized to exercise a summary jur isdic t ion.

2. This A c t shall and m a y be cited as t he " Evidence in

S u m m a r y Convictions Ac t . "
