His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Ethnic Affairs Commission Act 1979.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to prescribe area health services established under the Area Health Services Act 1986 and the Ambulance Service of New South Wales as public authorities for the purposes of the Act. Under the Act, as amended by the Ethnic Affairs Commission Amendment Act 1996, a public authority must observe the principles of cultural diversity in its affairs and may enter into ethnic affairs agreements with the Ethnic Affairs Commission.
This Regulation is made under the Ethnic Affairs Commission Act 1979, including section 5 and section 22 (the general regulation making power).
This Regulation comprises or relates to matters of a machinery nature.

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Ethnic Affairs Commission Regulation
1997.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 7 February 1997.
3 Definitions
In this Regulation:
the Act means the Ethnic Affairs Commission Act 1979.
4 Notes
The explanatory note and table of contents in the text of this
Regulation do not form part of this Regulation.
5 Public Public authorities For the purposes of the definition of public authority in section 5 of the Act, the following are prescribed as public authorities:
(a) an area health service within the meaning of the Area Health Services Act 1986, (b) the Ambulance Service of New South Wales.
