The Australian Capital Territory Executive makes the following regulations under the Epidemiological Studies (Confidentiality) Act 1992.

  1. Commencement

    These regulations commence on the day they are notified in the Gazette.

  2. Regulations amended

    These regulations amend the Epidemiological Studies (Confidentiality) Regulations.

  3. Substitution

    Regulation 1 is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

    These regulations are the Epidemiological Studies (Confidentiality) Regulations 1992.”.

  5. Insertion

    After regulation 4 the following regulations are inserted:

  6. Prescribed study—parenting practices of drug users

    For paragraph (b) of the definition of prescribed study in subsection 3 (1) of the Act, the Territory epidemiological study known as Parenting in the Socio-cultural Context of Illicit Drug or Harmful Alcohol Use that—

    (a)relates to the parenting ideas and practices of different groups of women, including illicit drug users; and

(b)is conducted by the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health; and

(c)began in September 1998;

is declared to be a study to which the Act applies.

  1. Prescribed study—combating child abuse by drug users

    For paragraph (b) of the definition of prescribed study in subsection 3 (1) of the Act, the Territory epidemiological study known as An Evaluation of an Intervention Program to Combat Child Abuse and Neglect and to Provide Health Promotion for Children of Drug Users that—

    (a)relates to—

    (i)the factors responsible for the incidence and distribution of child abuse among drug users; and

    (ii)the effectiveness of a program to combat child abuse and neglect by drug users and to provide health promotion for the children of drug users; and

(b)is conducted by the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health; and

(c)began in December 1998;

is declared to be a study to which the Act applies.”.
