s1 2 s4 Environmental Protection (Interim) Amendment No. 434, 1997 (No. 3) ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Environmental Protection (Interim) Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 1997 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the EnvironmentalProtection(Interim)Regulation 1995 . ˙ Amendment of s 2 (Commencement) 3. Section 2(5), ‘on 1 January 1998’— omit, insert— ‘immediately before section 60 has effect’. ˙ Insertion of new s 65EA 4. After section 65E— insert— ˙ ‘ Transitional provisions about sch 1, item 49 ‘ 65EA.(1) This section applies if— (a) immediately before the day the Environmental Protection (Interim) Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 1997 commences (the “commencement day” ), a person held a licence to carry out the environmentally relevant activity mentioned in schedule 1, item 49; and (b) on the commencement day, the activity becomes an environmentally relevant activity under schedule 1, item 49(a). ‘ (2) The person’s licence is taken to be an approval to carry out the environmentally relevant activity.’.

Meat processing—slaughtering animals for commercially producing meat or meat products for human consumption, or processing or packaging of meat or meat products for human consumption— (a) if an integral part of the activity involves the operation of a rendering plant with a design production capacity of more than 300 t per year—in works (other than a retail butcher shop) having a design production capacity of— (i) 1 000 t or more but less than 3 000 t per year . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
