Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Act 1981.

Commencement

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 17 December 1984.

2. After regulation 2 of the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Declaration of Australian waters

“2a. (1) The following areas of sea are declared to be included in Australian waters for the purposes of the Act, namely, each area of sea that consists of the whole of that part of the Australian fishing zone that is adjacent to, and on the seaward side of, the territorial sea of Australia or the territorial sea of an external Territory.

“(2) In sub-regulation (1), ‘Australian fishing zone’ has the same meaning as in the Fisheries Act 1952 as in force at the commencement of this regulation.”.
