REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903–1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903–1918, to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Regulations for the Entrance Examination to the Royal Military College of Australia, 1916.

Regulations for the Entrance Examination to the Royal Military College of Australia 1916 are amended as follows:—

(1) Para. (e) of regulation 4 of Part I. is amended by inserting next after the word “logarithms” the words “drawing paper, boards and tee squares”.

(2) The Schedule contained in regulation 6 of Part I. is amended by adding:—

“Drawing paper/ Candidates’ answers/ 19/ see Para. 11”.

(3) Regulation 19 of Part I. is amended by adding thereto the following words:—”For the Geometrical Drawing Examination, sheets of drawing paper will be used in place of copies of C.M. Book 24, and the foregoing instructions will apply as in both cases”.

(4) Paragraph 4(b) of Division 1 of Part II. is amended by deleting the following words:—“Drawing paper will be provided, but all instruments must be brought by candidates”, and inserting the following words in lieu thereof:—

“Drawing paper, drawing boards, and tee squares will be provided, but drawing instruments, drawing pins, pencils and ink, must be brought by candidates.”

“Candidates are required to be proficient in the use of mechanical drawing instruments both for pencil and ink, with the tee square and board, and in printing in the two specified types.”

For a pass in elementary mathematics and geometrical drawing a satisfactory standard in each section of the paper is required.”
