Electricity Safety (Equipment) (Fees) Regulations

2001

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the
fee structure established by the Electricity Safety

(Equipment) Regulations 1999.

2. Authorising provisions

These Regulations are made under sections 153 and 157 of the Electricity Safety Act 1998.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 13 May

2001.

4. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Electricity Safety
(Equipment) Regulations 19991 are called the

Principal Regulations.

5. Amendment of definitions

Electricity Safety (Equipment) (Fees) Regulations 2001

In regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations, insert
the following definitions—

' "electrical appliance" means a self-contained

electrical appliance in which electrical
energy is converted into heat, motion or any
other form of energy or is substantially
changed in its electrical character, but does

not include an electrical luminaire;

"electrical device" means a device to—

(a)

distribute, control, condition, protect or switch low voltage electrical power; or

(b)

enable the connection of electrical circuits or apparatus;

"electrical luminaire" means a portable, self-

contained electrical appliance that produces
visible, ultraviolet or infra-red light output
for illuminative, decorative, therapeutic or

cosmetic purposes;'.

6. Electrical equipment safety certification system

In regulation 17(a) of the Principal Regulations,
after "certification body" insert "operating in

Australia or New Zealand and".

7. Amendment of Part A of the Schedule

In Part A of the Schedule to the Principal

Regulations—

(a) in item 5 for "$382" substitute "$360";
(b) in item 6 for "$436" substitute "$500";
(c) item 7 is revoked;
(d) in item 10 for "$273" substitute "$320";

(e) item 11 is revoked.

8. New Part B of the Schedule substituted

Electricity Safety (Equipment) (Fees) Regulations 2001

S.R. No. 38/2001

For Part B of the Schedule to the Principal

Regulations substitute—

"Part B—Categories

Equipment Category
Electrical devices 1
Electrical luminaires 1
Electrical appliances 2".
