These regulations amend the Eleclrici4' (Licensing)
Regulations 1991.

Made by the Governoi , in Executive Council.

1.            Citation

These regulations are the Electricil}' (Licensing) Amendment
Regulations 2012.

2.              Commencement

i llese re^,ulations come into operation as follows

(a) regulations I and 2— on the day on which these

regulations are published in the Gazette;

(b)
the rest of the re^pulations on the day after that day.

4.             Regulation 3 amended

(1) In regulation 3 (1) insert in alphabetical order:

copy. in relation to a notice of completion or electrical

safety certificate, means a hard copy or an electronic

copy;

in-House electrical iiistallinq work has the meaning

given by regulation 37(2) and (3);

in-House electrical installin work licence means a

licence to carry out in-house electrical installing work;

(2) In regulation 3(1) in the definition of electrical worker delete "a
person" and insert:
an individual

carry out electrical work that is in-house electrical installin(T In regulation 3(1) in the definition of licence delete "a licence to
work for the purposes of Part 4;" and insert:
an in -house electrical installing work licence;

5.             Regulation 4A .amended

After regulation 4A(1) insert:

(2A) However the definition of electrical work does not

include ork on components of a motor vehicle, as

defined in the Road Traffic Act 1974 section 5(1). that

operate on direct current.

6.             Regulation 3S amended

In regulation 35 delete " licence referred to in regulation 37."

and insert:

licence.

7.             Regulation 49 amended

(1) In regulation 49(1):

(a) delete "A" and insert:

Subject to suhre^,ulations (2B) and (2), a

(b) in paragraph (b) delete "time." and insert:

ti me; and

(c) after paragraph (h) insert:

(c) the standards specified in Schedule 2 as

amended from time to time.

(2) Delete regulation 49(2).
(3) After regulation 49(2a) insert:

(2B) An amendment published by Standards Australia to a standard referred to in subregulation (1)(a) or (c) does not have effect for the purposes of that subregulation

until 6 months after the day on which it is published.

(2) If a code or standard referred to in subregulation (1)(a)

or (c) is inconsistent •ith the W A Electrical
Requirements, the W A Electrical Requirements
prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

8.             Regulation 52 amended

(1) In regulation 52(3) after "completed" insert:
in accordance with regulations 49 and 49B
(2) In regulation 52(4) and (5)(c) delete " this regulation," and
insert:
subregulations (1) and (la).

9.              Regulation 52C' .amended

Delete regulation 52C(1) and insert:

(1) An electrical contractor who dories out electrical installing•ork, or causes electrical installin g; work to

he carried out. must ensure that -

(a) any electrician employed or engaged by the

electrical contractor to carry out any of the
electrical installin g, work-

(i)      has had appropriate training: and

(ii)      holds a current licence; and

(iii) is competent to carry out the work:

and

(b) when the electrical instullin work is

completed -

(i)      it is checked and tested; and

(ii)      the electrical installation is safe to use;

and

(c) the electrical installing work is completed to a

trade finish.

Safety) Amendment Regulations 2012

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.
1. Citation
These regulations are the Electricity (Supply Standards and
System Sateij) Amendment Regulations 2012.
2. Commencement
These regulations come into operation as follows

(a) regulations I and 2 — on the day on •hich these

regulations are published in the Gazette;

(h) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.             Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Electricity (Supply Standards and

System Safety) Regulations 2001.
