Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Amendment Regulations 2003

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act 1997 .16 June 2003

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Amendment Regulations 2003 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 21 July 2003. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Part 8 insertedAfter regulation 19 of the Principal Regulations , the following Part is inserted: PART 8Energy Efficiency 20Energy efficiency standard (1) For the purposes of section 58 of the Act – (a) the relevant classes of electrical articles are the classes of electrical equipment in respect of which standards of energy efficiency and performance are specified in regulation 6 of the Electricity Safety (Equipment Efficiency) Regulations 1999 of Victoria as in force from time to time; and (b) the relevant minimum standard of energy efficiency for an electrical article of a class referred to in paragraph (a) is the standard of energy efficiency and performance specified in respect of that class in those regulations. (2)  A relevant class fixed under subregulation (1)(a) is limited to electrical articles that are not second-hand goods within the meaning of the Second-hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1994 . 21Articles to be labelled with energy efficiency standard (1) For the purposes of section 59 of the Act – (a) the relevant classes of electrical articles are the classes of electrical equipment specified in Schedule 3 to the Electricity Safety (Equipment Efficiency) Regulations 1999 of Victoria as in force from time to time; and (b) an electrical article of a class referred to in paragraph (a) is to be labelled in accordance with regulation 16(1) of those regulations. (2)  A relevant class fixed under subregulation (1)(a) is limited to electrical articles that are not second-hand goods within the meaning of the Second-hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1994 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations amend the

(a) prescribing for the purposes of section 58 of the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act 1997 – (i) the classes of electrical articles that must comply with a minimum standard of energy efficiency; and (ii) the minimum standard of energy efficiency for those classes; and (b) prescribing for the purposes of section 59 of the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act 1997 – (i) the classes of electrical articles that must be labelled to indicate their energy efficiency; and (ii) the form of the label for those classes.
