Electricity Corporation (Charges) Amendment By-laws (No. 2) 1998
Made by the Electricity Corporation with the approval of the Governor in
Executive Council.1. Citation
These by-laws may be cited as the Electricity Corporation
(Charges) Amendment By-laws (No. 2) 1998.
2. Commencement
These by-laws come into operation on 1 January 1999.
3. The by-laws amended
The amendments in the by-laws are to the Electricity
Corporation (Charges) By-laws 1996*.[* Published in Gazette 25 June 1996, pp. 2875-98. For amendments to 22 December 1998 see 1997 Index to

4. By-law 3 amended
By-law 3 is amended as follows:
(a)
by inserting in the appropriate alphabetical position the following definition —
“
“automotive distillate import parity indicator”
means the figure described as such and as amended
from time to time, published by the Australian

”;
(b) by deleting the definition of “maximum endorsed industry price of automotive distillate”.
5. Schedule 2 amended
Schedule 2 is amended as follows:
(a)
after the Schedule heading by inserting the following Division heading —

”;
(b) by deleting the item headed “TARIFF N2”; (c)
after the item headed TARIFF W2” by inserting the following Division —
“

TARIFF L2
General Supply
Low/Medium Voltage Tariff
This tariff is available for low/medium voltage supply, except where the consumer uses more than 822 units per day and supply is undertaken under the provisions of a contract.
A fixed charge at the rate of 24.31 cents per day.
Plus all metered consumption at the rate of —
15.98 cents per unit for the first 822 units per day.
20.00 cents per unit per day for all units in excess of
822 units per day*.
*Where a calculation of consumption at the end of the

TARIFF A2
Residential Tariff
This tariff is available for residential use only.
A fixed charge at the rate of 23.39 cents per day.Plus all metered consumption at the rate of —
12.75 cents per unit.
For multiple dwellings supplied through one metered supply point the fixed charge is at the rate of —
(a) 23.39 cents per day for the first dwelling; and
(b) 18.17 cents per day for each additional dwelling.
TARIFF C2
Special Community Service Tariff
This tariff is available for small voluntary and charitable organizations, subject to the following conditions.

A fixed charge at the rate of 23.39 cents per day.
Plus all metered consumption at the rate of —
12.75 cents per unit for the first 20 units per day.
15.98 cents for the next 1 630 units per day.
14.42 cents per unit per day for all units exceeding 1 650units.
Conditions for Tariff C2
For the purposes of this tariff the consumer must comply with the following conditions.
(1) The consumer must —
(a) be a direct customer of the Electricity Corporation;
(b) be a voluntary, non-profit making organization;
(c)
be classified as being tax exempt under section 23 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 of the Commonwealth;
(d)
provide a public service, which is available to any member of the public without discrimination;
(e)
not be a Commonwealth, State or local government department, instrumentality or agency; and
(f)
not receive the major part of its funding from any organization mentioned in paragraph (e).
(2) A consumer seeking supply under this tariff must make
an application to the Electricity Corporation in writing
accompanied by evidence which clearly demonstrates thatthe consumer meets all the conditions listed in item (1).
TARIFF D2
Special Tariff for Certain Premises
This tariff is available for premises wholly used by a charitable or benevolent organization for providing residential accommodation other than for commercial gain, being premises for which Tariff A2 is not available.
A fixed charge at the rate of —
23.39 cents per day,
and where in accordance with this tariff there is deemed to
be more than one equivalent domestic residence in thepremises, an additional —
18.17 cents per day,
for each equivalent domestic residence except the first that
is deemed to be in the premises.
Plus all metered consumption at the rate of —
12.75 cents per unit.
For the purpose of this tariff the number of equivalent domestic residences deemed to be in particular premises is

and, where the quotient is not a whole number, by increasingit to the next highest whole number.
TARIFF K2
General Supply with Residential Tariff
This tariff is available for premises where the circuit wiring is not separate and the electricity is used partly for general purposes and partly for residential purposes, except where the consumer uses more than 822 units per day and supply is undertaken under the provisions of a contract.
A fixed charge at the rate of 23.39 cents per day.
Plus all metered consumption at the rate of —
12.75 cents per unit for the first 20 units per day.
15.98 cents per unit for each unit in excess of 20 units,
but less than 822 units per day.
20.00 cents per unit per day for all units in excess of
822 units per day*.
*Where a calculation of consumption at the end of the

A charge of $2.40 per day per kilowatt of the total installed wattage.

6. Transitional provisions for regional consumers formerly subject to Tariff R2
(1) Despite by-law 4 of these by-laws, a regional consumer who,
immediately prior to the commencement of these by-laws, was
being charged for the supply of electricity under Tariff R2, shall
continue to pay at a rate calculated by reference to the
1997/1998 financial year’s total cost to that consumer, but is to
be subject to an annual cumulative increase on the yearly rate of
7% per annum, until the total payable under the increasing rate
is equal to or greater than the amount that would be payable
under Tariff L2, in which case the consumer is to be billed at the
rate set out in Tariff L2 for that year and for all following years.(2)
The fixed rate of $1.44 per day imposed by Tariff R2 continues to apply to a regional consumer while that consumer is subject to sub-bylaw (1).
(3) Despite sub-bylaw (1), a regional consumer who, immediately
prior to the commencement of these by-laws, was being charged

between the consumer and the Corporation) choose to pay for
consumption at the rate set out in Tariff L2, at any time during
which the consumer would otherwise be subject to sub-
bylaw (1), after which the consumer is to be billed at the rate setout in Tariff L2 for that year and for all following years.
