ELECTRICITY ACT 1945—REGULATION
(Relating to variations of charges for, or conditions of supply of, electricity)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Electricity Act 1945, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Electricity Councils Regulation 1987 is amended by inserting after
clause 9 the following clause:
Notification of variation of charges for electricity etc.
10. (1) The Corporation may, by notice in writing to an electricity council, reduce, in a particular case, the 14-day period referred to in section 13B (1) of the Act in its application to the council.
(2) The 14-day period is not to be reduced to a period of less than
7 days.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Electricity Act 1945 requires an electricity supply authority to notify the Energy Corporation of a variation in the form and basis of charging for electricity, the method of fixing charges for electricity, the charges for electicity or the terms and conditions of supply of electricity. The notification must be given at least 14 days before the variation takes effect unless otherwise prescribed.
The object of this Regulation is to enable the Energy Corporation to reduce that
14-day permit in relation to an electricity council to a period of not less than 7 days.
