ELECTRICITY ACT 1945—REGULATION

(Relating to the definitions of “high voltage” and “low voltage”)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Electricity Act 1945, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Electricity (Workers’ Safety) Regulation 1992 is amended by omitting the definitions of “high voltage” and “low voltage” from clause 4 (1) and by inserting instead the following definitions:

“high voltage” means a voltage normally exceeding 1,000 volts

alternating current or 1,500 volts direct current;

“low voltage” means a voltage normally exceeding 32 volts alternating current or 115 volts direct current, but not normally exceeding 1,000 volts alternating current or 1,500 volts direct current;

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Electricity (Workers’ Safety) Regulation 1992 so as to bring the definitions of “high voltage” and “low voltage” in that Regulation into line with Australian Standard AS3000–SAA Wiring Rules.

This Regulation is made under the Electricity Act 1945, including section 37 (the general regulation-making power).
