ELECTRICITY ACT 1945—REGULATION

(Relating to qualifications to carry out live high voltage overhead line work)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Electricity Act 1945, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Electricity (Workers’ Safety) Regulation 1992 is amended by inserting at the end of Part 5 of Schedule 1 the following matter:

Central Gippsland College of Technical and Further Education

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to enable the recognition of qualifications provided by the Central Gippsland College of TAFE (of which the National Energy Training Centre is part) as entitling a person to carry out work on live overhead powerlines at voltages above 650 volts. The qualification does not, however, extend to work on the wires with which electric trains make contact.

This Regulation is made under the Electricity Act 1945, for example section 37 (2) (k) (the training and qualifications of persons who perform work concerning high voltage electrical equipment) and (l).
