ELECTRICITY ACT 1945 - REGULATION

(Relating to inspection and testing of consumers’

electrical installations) NEW SOUTH WALES

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Electricity Act 1945, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 30 March 1990.

Amendments

2. The Consumers’ Electrical Installations (Safety) Regulations 1961

are amended:

(a) by omitting Regulation 14 and by inserting instead: Inspections by licensed or certificated persons

14. (1) An electricity supply authority must not appoint or authorise any person to carry out an inspection and test under these Regulations unless that person is either:

(a)

the holder of an endorsed licence or supervisor certificate in force under the Building Services Corporation Act 1989 authorising its holder to do electrical wiring work without supervision; or

(b) the holder of a certificate as an electrical engineer issued pursuant to Ordinance No. 4 made under the Local Government Act 1919.

(2) A person must not carry out or attempt to carry out any such inspection or test unless the person is the holder of a licence or certificate referred to in subsection (1).

by omitting from Form 1 the matter "**No. of licence/certificate of registration issued to the installing contractor under the Electricity Development (Registration and Licensing) Regulation 1984" and by inserting instead "No. of endorsed licence or supervisor certificate issued to the installing contractor or to the qualified representative of the contractor".

by omitting from Form 1 the matter "**If installing contractor

is not registered state whether electrical wiring work carried out in any of the circumstances referred to in section 22 (2)-(7) of the Electricity Development Act 1945.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Consumers' Electrical Installations (Safety) Regulations 1961 under the Electricity Act 1945 in consequence of the passage of the Building Services Corporation Act 1989 so as to adopt the terminology concerning licences and certificates introduced by that Act.
