The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be cited as " The Electrical Workers Acts, 1927 to 1931." Amendments of the Princt:pal Act. 2. The following additional paragraph is added Amendment after paragraph (d) of section three of the Principal of s. 3. Act, namely :- "(e) Any motor mechanic from engaging in any work in connection with the electrical equipment of a motor vehicle." 3. No. 43, A representative, who shall be a qualified engineer or the holder of a certificate under this Act, elected by the employers in the electrical industry in the State; A representative, who shall be the holder of a certificate, elected by the certificated employees in the electrical industry in the State. Chairman. (2.) The member who is the representative of the Government shall be chairman of the Board. In the event of the absence of the representative of the Govern- ment from any meeting of the Board, some other person to be appointed by the Minister for the purpose may attend, and shall, for the purpose of that meeting, be deemed to be a member of the Board. Business. (3.) Subject to this Act, the Board shall meet at such times and conduct their business in such manner as they may decide or as may be prescribed by the regulations. Representa- (4.) The Minister, the certificated employees in tives. the electrical industry in the State, the electric authorities in the State, the Fire Underwriters' Association of Q,ueens- land, and the employers in the electrical industry in the State may each change their representative from time to time. Every such appointment or change shall be notified in the Gazette. Absence. (5.) In the absence of any representative other than the representative of the Government, the authority appointing him may, in writing, appoint a proxy with similar qualification with power to act and vote for such absent representative at any meeting or meetings of the Board as may be required." Amendment 4. A new subsection is added to section eighteen of s. 18. of the Principal Act. " (4.) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act contained, any prosecution for a breach or contravention of this Act may be instituted within six months after the knowledge of the commission of the breach or contravention of this Act first came to the knowledge of the industrial inspector."

] 931. ELECTRICI'l'Y. ElectTical Workers Act Arnendment Act. 1373& 5. The Schedule is amended as follows: - Amendment of the (a) In subclause two of clause one, the word Schedule. "representatives" is repealed and the word "represen- tative" is inserted in lieu thereof. (b) Subclause five of clause five is repealed and the following subclause is inserted in lieu thereof :- " (5.) Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum." (c) Clause twelve of the Schedule is amended as follows :- (1) Provision (a) of paragraph (i.) of subclause one is repealed and the following provision is inserted in lieu thereof :- "(i.) '(a) Has served as an apprentice to the electrical trade for such period as is prescribed by the regulation made under *" The Apprentices and Minors Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution of that Act; and" (2) After provision (b) of the said paragraph (i.) the following provision is inserted, namely:- "(c) Has served as an apprentice to the mechanical engineering trades and who holds either of the following certificates, namely:- (i.) A first-class marine engineer's certificate issued by the Board of Trade of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland or by any Board in His Majesty's dominions having authority from the said Board of Trade to grant. certificates; (ii.) An engineer's certificate issued in accordance with the' provisions of t"The Inspection of Machinery Acts, 1915 to 1930," and who can produce evidence of having had two years' experience in "electrical work" as defined in this Act; or" (3) Provision (a) of paragraph (ii.) of subclause one is repealed and a new provision is inserted in lieu thereof:- "(ii.) (a) Is not an apprentice within the meaning of *"The Apprentices and Minors Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act; and" * 20 Geo. V No. 37, 8upra, page 12533. t 6 Geo. V. (a) Has served as an apprentice to the electrical trade for such period as is prescribed by the regulation made under *"The Apprentice8 and Minor8 Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act; and" (5) Provision (a) of paragraph (ii.) of subclause two is repealed and a new provision is inserted in lieu thereof :- "(ii.) (a) Is not an apprentice within the meaning of *"The Apprentice8 and Minor8 Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act; and" (6) Provision (a) of paragraph (i.) of subclause three is repealed and the following provision is inserted in lieu thereof, namely :- "(i.) (a) Has served as an apprentice to the electrical trade for such period as is prescribed by the regulation made under *"The Apprentice8 and Minor8 Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act; and" (7) Provision (a) of paragraph (ii.) of subclause three is repealed and the following provision is inserted in lieu thereof :- "(ii.) (a) Is not an apprentice within the meaning of *"The Apprentice8 and Minor8 Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act; and" Seotion 4. Seotion 6. Verbal Amendments. 6. The following verbal amendments are made in the Principal Act :- (a) In section four the definition of "Industrial ArbitrationAct" is amended by omitting the words t" " The Industrial Arbitration Acts, 1916 to 1926," " and inserting in lieu thereof the words t" " The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Acts, 1929 to 1930."" (b) In section six the words §" "The Apprenticeship Act of 1924" " are repealed and the words *" "The Apprentices and Minors Act of 1929" or any Act amending or in substitution for such Act " are inserted in lieu thereof. * 20 Geo.
