An Act for giving further t ime to prepare and
revise certain Lists of Persons entit led to vote

at the Election of Members of the Legislative

Council. [l6th August, 1847.]

WHEREAS by an. A c t of t he Governor and Legis la t ive Council of

N e w South W a l e s passed in t h e s ix th year of t he re ign of H e r

present Majesty and in t i tu led " An Act to provide for the division of " the Colony of New South Wales into Electoral Districts and for the

every Elec tora l Dis t r ic t or p a r t of a Dis t r ic t in which a list of persons ent i t led to vote a t the election of a Member or Members of Council for such Distr ict has not been made ou t publ ished and revised in due course or in due t ime wi th in t he presen t year t h e same shall be made signed and delivered by the Collectors in t he said Act n a m e d and as b y

" Election of Members to serve in the Legislative Council" lists of
persons ent i t led to vote a t t he election of M e m b e r s of t h e said Council for t h e several Electora l Districts a re directed to be prepared publ ished and revised and Electora l Rolls are requi red to be m a d e out from such revised lists w i th in cer ta in days and t imes respectively specified in the said Ac t in each and every year A n d whereas in divers distr icts within the said Colony such lists have no t in th is present year been prepared and publ ished or have no t been revised and such rolls have no t been m a d e out in due course and i t is expedient and necessary to r emedy such omissions and to give fur ther t ime for m a k i n g out or for revis ing t h e said l ists or for m a k i n g out such Electoral Rolls as t he case m a y requi re wi th in any of t h e said districts Be i t therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency the Governor of N e w South W a l e s wi th

t h e advice and consent of t he Legis la t ive Counci l thereof T h a t in

by t h e said Act is requi red before t h e t e n t h day of t h e m o n t h of

October now n e x t ensu ing and t h e r e u p o n such copies shall be kep t

p r in ted and delivered a n d such publ ica t ion of t h e same l ists shall be

m a d e on every day dur ing t h e week end ing on t h e twen t i e th day of t he said m o n t h of October as in and by t h e said recited Act are and is required .

2 . A n d be i t enacted Tha t claims by persons to have the i r names inser ted in such lists as aforesaid and objections to persons whose names shal l appear the re in shal l and may be m a d e in pu r suance of t he said Ac t on or before t he first day of t h e m o n t h of November and the reupon the list of c la imants and of persons objected to shall be m a d e out and publ i shed as by t h e said A c t requi red du r ing the e ight days n e x t preceding the said first day of November now nex t ensu ing and in all o ther respects t he provisions of t he said A c t in t ha t behalf shal l be observed and kep t .

3 . A n d be i t enacted Tha t Cour t s of P e t t y Sessions for t h e

revision of t h e l ists p repared unde r t h e provisions hereof and also of any o ther E lec tora l L i s t p repa red in p u r s u a n c e of t h e said reci ted Ac t b u t which have not been in clue course revised shal l be held in accordance wi th t h e said reci ted A c t in all respects except in so far as re la tes to t h e t i m e of ho ld ing thereof in each a n d every distr ict for which every such list shal l have been so p repared as aforesaid on some day be tween t h e said first day of November now nex t ensu ing inclusive and t h e fifteenth day of November aforesaid inclusive and the reupon a n d in re la t ion to every such Cour t and to every such Electora l Lis t and list of c la imants and objections all such acts m a t t e r s and th ings shall and m a y be done as by t he said reci ted A c t is in t h a t behalf required to be done for t he purpose of fully and finally se t t l ing t he said Electora l Lis t s and every and each of t h e m .

4. A n d be i t enacted Tha t every such Elec tora l Lis t revised as aforesaid shal l be delivered to t h e R e t u r n i n g Officer of t he distr ict to

which the same shal l pe r t a in as by t h e said reci ted Ac t is requi red on or before t he first day of December now n e x t ensu ing and the reupon t h e said R e t u r n i n g Officer to w h o m any such list shall be so delivered shal l w i th as l i t t le delay as possible cause to be fairly t ranscr ibed or p r in ted a general a lphabet ica l list of the electors of t he whole of his Elec tora l Dis t r ic t a n d such genera l l ist shal l be t he Electora l Lis t or Rol l of Electors ent i t led to vote in each respect ive Electora l Distr ict a t a l l Elec t ions t h a t m a y t a k e place of Members of t he Legis la t ive Council

after t h e said first day of December now nex t ensuing .
