AN ACT to amend the Electoral Act 1907-1983.

[Assented to 22 December 1983.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Electoral MiliTtlieon.

2. This Act shall come into operation on a day

to be fixed by proclamation.

Section 4

amended.

3. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by

deleting the interpretation of "Aboriginal".

Section 45

amended.

4. Section 45 of the principal Act is amended by

repealing subsection (5).

Section 181

amended.

5. Section 181 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting paragraph (aa); and

(b)

in paragraph (b) by deleting ", opposition, enrolment or refraining from enrolment referred to in either paragraph (a) or paragraph (aa)" and substituting the following-

" or opposition referred to in paragraph

(a) ".

Section 182

amended.

6. Section 182 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "or the supply of food, drink, entertain- ment or transport with a view to influencing enrolment or refraining from enrolment, as an elector by an Aboriginal".

Section 183

amended.

7. Section 183 of the principal Act is amended

(a) by deleting paragraph (la); and

(b)

in paragraph (2) by deleting ", opposition, enrolment or refraining from enrolment referred to in paragraph (1) or paragraph (la)" and substituting the following-

" or opposition referred to in paragraph

(1) ".

Section 184

amended.

8. Section 184 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "or with the free exercise by an Aboriginal of his choice whether or not to enrol as an elector".
