ELECTION OF SENATORS.

AN ACT to amend the Election of Senators Act 1903.
[Assented to 29 November 1984.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Election of 2,o,r=pal

| ment. | 2. This Act shall come into operation on the day |
on which it is assented to by the Governor.
Section 2

| (a) | the close of the rolls; |
(b) the nomination of candidates;
(c) the polling; and
(d) the return of the writ,
and so far as any of such times may be men- tioned in the writ for the election, they shall be in accordance with the times fixed by such proclamation. ".

Where a candidate for an election dies, after being nominated and before 12 o'clock noon on the day fixed by the writ as the date of nomination for the election, the day fixed as the day of nomination for the election shall, except for the purposes of subsection (4), be taken to be the day next succeeding the day so fixed.

The date fixed for the polling shall not
be less than 22 days nor more than 30 days
after the date of nomination.

(6) The date fixed for the return of the writ shall not be more than 90 days after the date of the writ. ".
5. Section 4 of the principal Act is repealed and =feld4tind
