3 Education (Teacher Registration) Amendment (No. 1) No. 61, 1993 ˙ Short title 1. This by-law may be cited as the Education (Teacher Registration) Amendment By-law (No. 1) 1993 . ˙ Amended by-law 2.(1) The Board of Teacher Registration By-law 1989 (the “amended by-law” ) is amended as set out in this by-law. (2) The amended by-law is renumbered, or numbered, as set out in Schedule 1. (3) Part headings are inserted in the amended by-law as set out in Schedule 2. ˙ Replacement of ss.1.1 to 1.5 3. Sections 1.1 to 1.5— omit, insert— ˙ ‘Short title ‘1. This by-law may be cited as the Education (Teacher Registration)By-law 1989 . ˙ ‘Fees ‘2. The fees set out in the Schedule are the fees payable to the Board in relation to the matters mentioned. ’. ˙ Amendment of s.6 (Qualifications and experience for provisional registration) 4. Section 6(1)(b) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ clause 2.3 ’, insert ‘ section 5 ’.

Section 7 (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit, insert— ˙ ‘Retention of name in Register ‘7.(1) A registered teacher may apply to the Board for the retention of the teacher’s name in the Register for a period of 12 months starting on 1 January in any year. ‘(2) The application must be made on or before 31 December of the preceding year. ‘(3) The Board must give written notice to a registered teacher of the retention of the teacher’s name in the Register. ’. ˙ Amendment of s.10 (Conduct of an inquiry) 6.(1) Section 10(4) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ a Notice given pursuant to subclause (c) ’, insert ‘ the notice ’. (2) Section 10(4) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ in accordance with the provisions of subclause (c) ’. (3) Section 10(7)(c) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ pursuant to paragraph (ii) of this subclause ’, insert ‘ under paragraph (b) ’. ˙ Replacement of s.11 (Rules) 7. Section 11 (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit, insert— ˙ ‘Rules ‘11.(1) The Board may, by resolution, make rules for the purposes of this Part.

5 Education (Teacher Registration) Amendment (No. 1) No. 61, 1993 ‘(2) As soon as practicable after making a rule, the Board must publish a notice in the Gazette stating— (a) that a rule has been made; and (b) where a copy may be inspected. ’. ˙ Amendment of s.15 (Nomination of candidates) 8. Section 15(3) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ clause ’, insert ‘ section ’. ˙ Amendment of s.17 (Procedure where more persons nominated than number to be elected) 9. Section 17(3) (as numbered by this by-law)— omit ‘ such voter on such voting paper shall be deemed ’, insert ‘ the voter on the voting paper is taken ’. ˙ Amendment of s.20 (Examination and counting of votes) 10. Section 20(3)(c) (as renumbered by this by-law)— omit, insert— ‘ (c) is taken to be informal under section 17(3). ’. ˙ Amendment of Schedule (Fees) 11. Schedule (items 2 and 3)— omit, insert— ‘ 2.
