2 Education (Statewide Support Centres) Amendment (No. 1) No. 436, 1992 ˙ Short title 1. This order in council may be cited as the Education (Statewide Support Centres) Amendment Order (No. 1) 1992 . ˙ Amended order 2. The Education (Statewide Support Centres) Order 1992 is amended as set out in this order. ˙ Insertion of new Part heading 3. Before section 1— insert— ‘PART 1—PRELIMINARY’. ˙ Insertion of new Part heading 4. After section 1— insert— ‘PART 2—STATEWIDE SUPPORT CENTRES’. ˙ Insertion of new Part heading 5. After section 5— insert— ‘PART 3—ADVISORY COUNCILS’. ˙ Insertion of new Part heading 6. After section 14— insert— ‘PART 4—FEES’.

After section 16— insert— ‘PART 5—SPECIAL PROVISIONS APPLYING TO THE ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER EDUCATION SUPPORT CENTRE ˙ ‘Application of order ‘17.(1) Section 18 applies to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Support Centre instead of section 8(3) to (6). ‘(2) Section 9 applies to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Support Centre but the reference to ‘1 March 1992’ is taken to be a reference to ‘1 March 1993’. ‘(3) Section 13 applies to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Support Centre but the reference to ‘sections 8(3) and 8(4)’ is taken to be a reference to ‘section 18(1) and (2)’. ˙ ‘Membership of advisory council of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Support Centre ‘18.(1) Subject to subsections (3) and (4), the Executive Director (Regional Operations) must appoint as members of the advisory council at least 1 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person representing each of the following groups— (a) parents; (b) teachers; (c) principals; (d) officers of the public service other than teachers; (e) State educational institutions; (f) employers; (g) tertiary institutions;
4 Education (Statewide Support Centres) Amendment (No. 1) No. 436, 1992 (h) community groups including those representing Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders; (i) other professionals; if each of those community groups submits nominations after a request from the Executive Director (Regional Operations) to do so. ‘(2) The Executive Director (Regional Operations) must also appoint 1 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander member of the advisory council from each of the following organisations— (a) Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Consultative Committee; (b) Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens Associations Incorporated; (c) Isolated Children’s Parents Association; (d) Queensland Teachers’ Union; (e) Professional Officers’ Association; (f) Queensland State Service Union; if each of those organisations submits a nomination after a request from the Executive Director (Regional Operations) to do so. ‘(3) If representatives of the 2 organisations mentioned in subsection (2)(b) and (c) are appointed, the Executive Director (Regional Operations) need not appoint a person under subsection (1)(a) unless the Executive Director (Regional Operations) is of the opinion that additional representation of the group is required. ‘(4) If a representative of the organisation mentioned in subsection (2)(d) is appointed, the Executive Director (Regional Operations) need not appoint a person under subsection (1)(b) unless the Executive Director (Regional Operations) is of the opinion that additional representation of the group is required. ’.
