I, Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, make this instrument, under section 7A of the Education Services for Overseas Students (TPS Levies) Act 2012.

1. Name

This is the Education Services for Overseas Students (TPS Levies) (Administrative and Base Fees) Determination 2017.

1. Commencement

This instrument commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.

3.              Authority

This instrument is made under section 7A of the Education Services for Overseas Students (TPS Levies) Act 2012.

1. Definitions

   In this instrument:

Act means the Education Services for Overseas Students (TPS Levies) Act 2012.

Registered Provider has the same meaning as in the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000.

Note: see sections 6 and 7 of the Act for the meanings of administrative fee component and base fee component.

1. Determination of administrative fee component and base fee component

(1) Administrative fee component

For the purposes of section 6 of the Act, the following amounts are determined for the calendar year beginning on 1 January 2018 and any later calendar year, unless otherwise determined by the Minister:

(a) the dollar amount for the purposes of paragraph 6(a) of the Act is $ 107;

(b) the dollar amount for the purposes of paragraph 6(b) of the Act is $ 0.55.

(2) Base fee component

For the purposes of section 7 of the Act, the following amounts are determined for the calendar year beginning on 1 January 2018 and any later calendar year, unless otherwise determined by the Minister:

(a) the dollar amount for the purposes of paragraph 7(a) of the Act is $ 215;

(b) the dollar amount for the purposes of paragraph 7(b) of the Act is $ 1.36.

Note: Indexation will apply to the dollar amounts determined under this instrument in accordance with section 8 of the Act.
