This regulation may be cited as the Education (Senior Secondary School Studies) Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1996 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the Education(SeniorSecondarySchoolStudies) Regulation 1989 . ˙ Replacement of pt 1 3 . Part 1— omit, insert— ‘ PART 1—PRELIMINARY ˙ ‘ Short title ‘ 1. This regulation may be cited as the Education(SeniorSecondarySchool Studies) Regulation 1989 . ˙ ‘ Meaning of “principal” ‘ 2. “Principal” means the person in charge of a school.’. ˙ Amendment of s 6 (Awarding of junior and senior certificates) 4.(1) Section 6(1), second sentence— renumber as subsection (1A). (2) Section 6(2), second sentence, ‘A certificate’— omit, insert— ‘ (2A) A senior certificate’. (3) Section 6(2A), as renumbered, ‘subregulation (1)’— omit, insert— ‘subsection (1A)’.

(5) Section 6(6), second sentence, ‘For the purposes of this subregulation’— omit, insert— ‘ (6A) In subsection (6)’. (6) Section 6(7), ‘Provided that’ to ‘that student’— omit, insert— ‘ (8) However, the Board may award a junior or senior certificate to a student mentioned in subsection (7)’. ˙ Amendment of s 7 (External junior and senior examinations) 5. Section 7(1), ‘Provided that’ to ‘ the Board’— omit, insert — ‘ (1A) However, if prescribed under a by-law of the Board,’. ˙ Amendment of s 8 (Order of overall achievement list) 6. Section 8(1), second sentence— renumber as subsection (1A). ˙ Amendment of s 10 (Subject advisory committee) 7.(1) Section 10, second sentence— renumber as subsection (2). (2) Section 10(2)(f), as renumbered, from ‘the Department of Education’ to ‘Director-General’— omit, insert—

Section 13(2), ‘regulation 10(h)’— omit, insert— ‘section 10(2)(h)’. ˙ Insertion of new pt 6 9. After section 15— insert— ‘ PART 6—MISCELLANEOUS ˙ ‘ Education Legislation Amendment Act 1995, s 9—commencement ‘ 16.(1) In this section— “postponed law” means the Education Legislation Amendment Act 1995 , section 9. ‘ (2) The period before automatic commencement under the ActsInterpretation Act 1954 , section 15DA(2), of the postponed law is extended to 9 April 1997. ˙ ‘ Expiry of part ‘ 17. This part expires on 10 April 1997.’.
