s1 2 s6 Education (General Provisions) Amendment Regulation (No. 2) 2002 No. 344, 2002 1 Short title This regulation may be cited as the Education (General Provisions) Amendment Regulation (No. 2) 2002 . 2 Commencement Sections 6, 7 and 9 commence on 1 January 2003. 3 Regulation amended This regulation amends the Education(GeneralProvisions)Regulation 2000. 4 Amendment of s 3 (Definitions) Section 3, ‘the schedule’— omit, insert— ‘schedule 3’. 5 Amendment of s 59 (Allowances to non-State schools in receipt of subsidy) Section 59, ‘part 2, column 3’— omit, insert— ‘part 2’. 6 Amendment of s 60 (Allowances to certain student hostels) (1) Section 60(3)(a), ‘$8 000’— omit, insert— ‘$8 240’. (2) Section 60(3)(b), ‘$8 800’— omit, insert— ‘$9 064’.

For a primary school— (a) if the charge for tuition is not more than $1 122—the amount of the charge; or (b) if the charge for tuition is more than $1 122—$1 122 plus 50c for each dollar charged that is more than $1 122, to a maximum of $2 246. 2. For a secondary school— (a) if the charge for tuition is not more than $1 618—the amount of the charge; or (b) if the charge for tuition is more than $1 618—$1 618 plus 50c for each dollar charged that is more than $1 618, to a maximum of $3 236. 3. For a school that does not distinguish between primary and secondary education for certain students with disabilities and provides only special education for those students— (a) for a student who will be less than 13 years at the end of the year for which the allowance is paid— (i) if the charge for tuition is not more than $1 122—the amount of the charge; or (ii) if the charge for tuition is more than $1 122—$1 122 plus 50c for each dollar charged that is more than $1 122, to a maximum of $2 246; and
s9 6 s9 Education (General Provisions) Amendment Regulation (No. 2) 2002 No. 344, 2002 (b) for a student who will be 13 years or more at the end of the year for which the allowance is paid— (i) if the charge for tuition is not more than $1 618—the amount of the charge; or (ii) if the charge for tuition is more than $1 618—$1 618 plus 50c for each dollar charged that is more than $1 618, to a maximum of $3 236. ‘PART 5—REMOTE AREA TRAVEL ALLOWANCE 1. For a student who travels— (a) from a home in area 1 to a place in area 3—$884; or (b) from a home in area 2 to a place in area 3— (i) if the shortest trafficable route by road is via area 1—$884; or (ii) otherwise—$294; or (c) from a home in area 3 to a place in area 3— (i) if the shortest trafficable route by road is via area 2—$294; or (ii) otherwise—$98. 2. For a student who travels to a place in area 1 or area 2 and the most convenient direct route by road is— (a) not more than 150 km and takes— (i) not more than 3 h—$98; or (ii) more than 3 h but not more than 4 h—$196; or (iii) more than 4 h—$294; or (b) more than 150 km but not more than 300 km and takes— (i) not more than 4 h—$196; or
