For the purposes of subregulation (1) the Teachers' an approved four-year teaching qualification.

5. Regulation 185 of the principal regulations is repealed and the following

regulation is substituted -

185. (1) A teacher applying for appointment by promotion to

a position in a secondary school shall have -

(a' an approved four-year teaching qualification; and

(b) such other qualifications as may be specified by the Minister or the chief executive officer in the advertisement for the position.

(2) For the purposes of subregulation (1) the Teachers' Higher Certificate awarded by the Minister shall be deemed to be an approved four-year teaching qualification.

Regulation 193G inserted

6. After regulation 193F of the principal regulations the following

regulation is inserted -

193G. (1) A teacher applying for appointment by promotion

to a position in a senior college shall have -

(a) an approved four-year teaching qualification; and
(b) such other qualifications as may be specified by the

Minister or the chief executive officer in the

advertisement for the position.

(2) For the purposes of subregulation (1) the Teachers' Higher Certificate awarded by the Minister shall be deemed to be an approved four-year teaching qualification.

Heading to Part XIA amended

7. The heading to Part XIA of the principal regulations is amended by

deleting "BRANCH".

Regulation 262D amended

8. Regulation 262D (1) of the principal regulations is amended by deleting
"branch

Regulation 262E repealed
and a regulation substituted

9.     Regulation 262E of the principal regulations is repealed and the

following regulation is substituted —

262E. (1) A teacher applying for appointment by promotion

to a position in an education support school shall have —

(a) an approved four-year teaching qualification; and
(b) such other qualifications as may be specified by the Minister or the chief executive officer in the advertisement for the position.

(2) For the purposes of subregulation (1), the Teachers' Higher Certificate awarded by the Minister shall be deemed to be an approved four-year teaching qualification.

EDUCATION AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1992

Made by the Minister for Education.

Citation

1.     These regulations may be cited as the Education Amendment

Regulations 1992.

Principal regulations

2.      In these regulations the Education Act Regulations 1960* are referred to

as the principal regulations.

Regulation 4 amended

3.      Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting in the

correct alphabetical positions the following definitions —

"approved" means approved by the chief executive officer;

"four-year teaching qualification" means the successful completion of one or more courses comprising an aggregate of 4 years full-time study or part-time equivalent where —

(a) at least one year's study was in teacher education; and
(b) each course was undertaken at a tertiary institution in Australia or an approved tertiary institution outside Australia;

"promotion" means movement from one position to another position that has a salary and conditions of employment that, when viewed as a whole, are, in the opinion of the Minister or the chief executive officer (whichever will effect the promotion), superior to those of the first position;

advertisement for the position.

Regulations 169 and 170 repealed
and a regulation substituted

4.      Regulations 169 and 170 of the principal regulations are repealed and

the following regulation is substituted —
