Education Amendment (Grants) Act 1999

An Act to amend the Education Act 1994

[Royal Assent 27 October 1999]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Education Amendment (Grants) Act 1999 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Education Act 1994 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 65 amended (Amount of grant) Section 65 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after paragraph (a) the following paragraph: (ab) based on the needs of the school determined by the Minister taking into account any prescribed factors; and 5Sections 65A and 65B insertedAfter section 65 of the Principal Act , the following sections are inserted in Division 3: 65AGrant paid to other person At the request of the governing body of the registered school that made an application for a grant under section 64 , the Minister may approve the grant to be paid to any person or organisation nominated by that governing body. 65BAdditional grants The Minister may make a grant to a registered school in addition to a grant under section 64 for educational purposes and for any amount, and on any condition, the Minister determines.
