EDUCATION AMENDMENT
ACT 1992

AN ACT to amend the Education Act 1928.
[Assented to 17 June 1992.]
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Education Amendment Act
1992.
Commencement
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it
receives the Royal Assent.

3. In this Act the Education Act 1928* is referred to as the
principal Act.

Section 3 amended
4. Section 3 (1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the
definition of "Teachers' College".
Section 9A amended
5. Section 9A (1) of the principal Act is amended in the
definition of "non-government school" by inserting after "State"
the following —

and includes a pre-school centre operated in
conjunction with such an efficient school
Section 37B repealed
6. Section 37B of the principal Act is repealed.
Second Schedule amended
7. The Second Schedule to the principal Act is amended by
deleting "ten dollars or in default, to one month's imprisonment."
and substituting the following —

Validation
8. (1) Any application before the commencement of this Act of prescribed moneys for purposes which would have been lawful if section 9A, as amended by section 5 of this Act, had been in force at the time of the application, and every act or thing done by or on behalf of the Minister in that regard is hereby validated.
(2) In subsection (1) "prescribed moneys" means moneys appropriated by Parliament for the assistance of non-government schools and scholars attending non-government schools.
