EDUCATION.
No. 12 of 1967.
AN ACT to amend the Education Act, 1928-1966.
[Assented to 20th October, 1967.]
RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

| amended. | 2. Section thirteen of the principal Act is amended by adding at the end thereof, subsections as follow |
(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-
section (1) of this section, where
| (a) | a child wishes to be exempted from attendance at school for a period during which he intends to engage in employment of a nature that is related to his education at the school that he attends; and |
| (b) | the principal of that school is satisfied that the engaging by the child in that employment for the proposed period would be in the best interests of the education of the child, |
the Minister may exempt the child from attendance at school for such period as is specified in the instrument of exemption.
(6) Any exemption granted pursuant to subsection (5) of this section may, notwith- standing that the period specified therein has not expired, be revoked at any time by the Minister, and unless so revoked expires
| (a) | upon the expiration of the period specified; or |
| (b) | when the employment with respect to which it was granted comes to an end, |
whichever first occurs. .

| (a) | by deleting the passage, commencing with the passage, ", and" in line six of sub- section (2) and ending with the word, "Minister", being the last word in that subsection; and |
| (b) | by repealing subsections (3), (9), (10) and (11). |
