Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Amendment Regulations 2023

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2017 to prescribe additional poisons to be monitored on the monitored poisons database.

2Authorising provisions

These Regulations are made under sections 129(1) and 132 of the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 3 July 2023.

4Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2017[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

5Schedule 5—Monitored poisons

In Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations—

(a)after item 2 insert

"2AGabapentin

2BPregabalin";

(b)after item 3 insert

"3ATramadol".

6Schedule 6—Monitored supply poisons on and after 1 April 2020

In Schedule 6 to the Principal Regulations—

(a)after item 3 insert

"3AGabapentin

3BPregabalin";

(b)after item 4 insert

"4ATramadol".
