Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances

(Amendment) Regulations 1997

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are—

(a)

to revoke Parts 8, 9 and 10 of the Principal Regulations; and

(b)

to make certain minor amendments to the Principal Regulations.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 132 of the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1
August 1997.

4. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations the Drugs, Poisons and
Controlled Substances Regulations 19951 are

called the Principal Regulations.

5. Amendments to regulation 4

In regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations, omit the definitions of "special Schedule 4 substance" and "special Schedule 8 or Schedule 9 substance".

6. Amendment of regulation 12(1)(a)

In regulation 12(1)(a) of the Principal

Regulations, for "13" substitute "13(3)".

7. Amendments to heading to Part 5

In the heading to Part 5 of the Principal

Regulations—

(a) omit "SPECIAL SCHEDULE 4
SUBSTANCES,"; and

(b)

omit "AND SPECIAL SCHEDULE 8 OR SCHEDULE 9 SUBSTANCES".

8. Amendments to regulation 65

In regulation 65 of the Principal Regulations— (a) omit "special Schedule 4 substance,"; and (b) omit "or special Schedule 8 or 9 substance".

9. Revocation of Parts 8, 9 and 10

Parts 8, 9 and 10 of the Principal Regulations are revoked.
