An Act to amend the Drugs of Dependence Act 1989

[Notified in ACT Gazette S280:  15 December 1994]

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

1.  This Act may be cited as the Drugs of Dependence (Amendment) Act  (No. 2) 1994.

Commencement

2.  This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.

Principal Act

3.  In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Drugs of Dependence Act 1989.1

Offence notices

4.  Section 171A of the Principal Act is amended—

(a)by omitting from paragraph (a) of the definition of “simple cannabis offence” in subsection (7) “or” (last occurring);

(b)by adding at the end of paragraph (b) of the definition of “simple cannabis offence” in subsection (7) “or”; and

(c)by adding at the end of the definition of “simple cannabis offence” in subsection (7) the following paragraph:

“(c)an offence under subsection 171 (2) of administering, or causing or permitting to be administered, to oneself cannabis.”.
