An Act to prohibit the use of Dogs or Goats for

the purposes of draught . [7th April, 1866.]

WH E R E A S it is expedient t o prohib i t t h e use of Dogs or Goats for t h e purposes of d r a u g h t B e i t therefore enac ted by t h e Queen ' s

Mos t Exce l len t Majesty by a n d wi th t h e advice a n d consent of t h e

Legis la t ive Council a n d Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w Sou th "Wales

in P a r l i a m e n t assembled a n d by t h e au tho r i t y of t h e same as follows :—

1. After t h e pass ing of th i s A c t every person who shal l use a n y D o g or Goat for t h e purpose of d rawing or he lp ing to d raw any car t

carr iage t r u c k or ba r row shal l be liable to a pena l ty no t more t h a n forty

shil l ings for t h e first offence a n d no t more t h a n five pounds for	t h e
second or any following offence.

2. E v e r y pena l ty for a n y offence aga ins t th i s A c t m a y be

enforced a n d recovered u p o n s u m m a r y convict ion of such offence before any Jus t i ce of t h e Peace a n d in case of non-paymen t thereof i t shal l be levied by distress a n d sale of t h e offender's goods and chat te l s a n d on fai lure of distress shall be enforced in m a n n e r provided by t h e Ac t e leventh and twelfth Victor ia chap te r for ty- three as adopted

by t h e A c t of t h e Governor a n d Legis la t ive Counci l four teen th Victor ia

n u m b e r for ty- three and by any Ac t s a m e n d i n g t h e same.

3 . This A c t shall be s tyled a n d cited as t h e " D o g a n d Goat

A c t of 1866 . "
