An Act to amend the Law relating to _Documentary

Evidence.

[Assented to 4th August, 1887.

HEREAS the Documentary Evidence Act, 1868,' of the

Wand Ireland is in force in this Colony, subject to any law that mayImperial Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain

from time to time be made by the Legislature of this Colony, and it is expedient to make such law : Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. That this Act may be cited as `The Documentary Evidence Act,

1887.'

That the provisions of the second sub-section of the second. section, and of the first sub-section of the fourth section of the said Imperial Act shall apply not only to such proclamations, orders, or regulations as are printed under the authority of the Legislature of this Colony, but also to all proclamations, orders, regulations, and notices made or issued by the Governor under authority possessed by him, whether such proclamations, orders, regulations, and notices be or be not printed and published in the Government Gazette.'

That prinai facie evidence of any proclamation, order, regu- lation, or notice made or issued after the passing of this Act by or under the authority of the Governor, or of the Governor in Executive Council, or of the Legislative Council, or of the Head of any Department of the Government, or of any Body or Board in the first column of the Schedule to this Act mentioned, may be given in all Courts of Justice and in all legal proceedings whatever by the production of a copy of or extract therefrom, such copy or extract purporting to be certified to be true by the person or persons specified in the second column of the said Schedule in connection with the officer, department, body, or board in the said first column mentioned.

4. That the provisions of this Act shall be deemed to be in addition to and not in derogation from any powers of proving documents given by any Imperial Statute in force in this Colony, or by any Ordinance or Act in force in this Colony.
