183 ANNO QUARTO DECIMO ELIZABETH AE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 13 of 1965 An Act to Amend " The District Courts Acts, 1958 to 1964," in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 22ND APRIL. 1965] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. (1) Sbort title . This Act may be cited as " The District Courts Acts Amendment Act of 1965." (2) Principal Act. " The District Courts Acts, 1958 to 1964," are in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) Collective title. The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively cited as " The District Courts Acts, 1958 to 1965." 2. Commencement of Act. This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-five and shall operate retrospectively accordingly. 3. Amendment of s. 9 . Section nine of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) numbering that section as subsection (1); and (b) adding to that section the following subsection:- " (2) Chairman of District Courts . The Governor in Council may also from time to time designate one of such Judges as Chairman of District Courts and in that event such designation shall be indicated on the commission of appointment of such Judge."
184 District Courts Acts Amendment Act of 1965, A b. 13 4. Repeal of and new s . 15. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section fifteen and inserting in its stead the following section:- " 15. Salaries of Judges , &c. (1) A Judge shall hold his office during ability and good behaviour. (2) The salary of the Judge designated as Chairman of District Courts shall be at the rate of five thousand five hundred pounds per annum, exclusive of any allowance for travelling expenses. (3) The salary of a Judge (other than the Judge designated as Chairman of District Courts) shall be at the rate of five thousand two hundred and fifty pounds per annum, exclusive of any allowance for travelling expenses." 5. Amendments of s. 57. Section fifty-seven of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in paragraph (a) omitting the words " two thousand five hundred pounds " and inserting in their stead the words " five thousand pounds "; (b) in paragraph (b) omitting the words " one thousand five hundred pounds " and inserting in their stead the words " three thousand pounds ". 6. Amendments of s. 61 . Section sixty-one of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting the words " one thousand five hundred pounds " and inserting in their stead the words " three thousand pounds "; (b) omitting the words " two thousand five hundred pounds " and inserting in their stead the words " five thousand pounds ".
